The full length puffer had a good run but it was always solving a problem most men don’t actually have. The cropped version is where the real utility lives. It works over a hoodie without that awkward bunching at the hip. It layers under a longer coat when the temperature really drops. It doesn’t swallow a slim trouser or fight with what’s happening below the waist. We’ve been paying close attention to how these things move, because a puffer that restricts your arms or rides up every time you reach for something is a puffer you stop wearing by February. The ones in here use baffle constructions and stretch panels in the right places, so they feel closer to a softshell than a sleeping bag. Fill weight matters too and we’ve been strict about that. Light enough to pack down, warm enough to earn its place. These are cropped puffers that actually do the job.
