Red is not a neutral choice and that is entirely the point. A red puffer jacket is the one piece in a cold weather wardrobe that does not try to disappear into the background, and when it is cut well and filled properly it looks considered rather than loud. The problem is that this category attracts a lot of overpriced mediocrity. You pay for the color and end up with a jacket that loses its loft after six washes and fits like a sleeping bag with ambitions. We have been specifically focused on options that justify themselves on construction first and color second. Fill power matters. So does how the baffles sit across the chest and whether the collar actually protects your neck. These are not statement pieces for the sake of it. They are functional jackets that happen to look sharp and cost less than you might expect a jacket this good to cost.
