The boxy hoodie is one of those silhouettes that looks effortless on the right person and completely wrong on everyone else, and the difference is almost always fit. Too big and it reads sloppy. Cut well and it reads intentional. That line is narrower than most brands seem to understand, which is why so many hoodies marketed as oversized end up looking like you borrowed something from a larger friend rather than made a considered choice. We’ve been specifically looking at options where the shoulder seam sits where it’s supposed to, the body has volume without excess, and the fabric is heavy enough to hold the shape rather than collapse into it. These work over a longline tee, under an overshirt, or on their own with a well fitting trouser. Casual without being careless. We’ve also paid attention to hood construction because a poorly proportioned hood ruins the whole thing faster than anything else.
