Marl gets less credit than it deserves. The texture breaks up a flat color in a way that reads as considered without looking like you tried, and a good heavyweight marl hoodie is one of those pieces that pulls together a casual outfit rather than just filling a gap in it. We’ve been looking specifically at the fabric weight, because a thin hoodie bags out, pills within a season, and does nothing for the shape of the person wearing it. A proper midweight or heavyweight cotton fleece holds its structure, washes well, and actually looks better after a few months of use. Fit matters too. Too boxy and it reads sloppy. Too fitted and you’ve lost the whole point of a hoodie. We’re looking for that relaxed but organized cut that works over a tee, under a coat, or on its own without any real thought required. These are the marl hoodies we’d actually put our own money behind.
