Packing for a winter trip has a way of exposing every weakness in a wardrobe. You need something warm enough to matter, light enough to fold without bulk, and versatile enough to work over a shirt in a restaurant and under a coat on a cold street. Most jumpers fail at least one of those tests. The ones we’ve gathered here pass all three.

We’ve been particularly focused on midweight knits in merino and lambswool because they travel well, they layer well, and they don’t lose their shape after a few days in a bag. Color choices matter too. We stayed away from anything that only works with one thing. These are jumpers that move across a trip without you having to think too hard.
