The Black Overshirts We Keep Coming Back To
Black works harder than any other color in a wardrobe and the overshirt might be where it earns its keep most quietly. Worn open over a white tee it looks intentional without looking considered. Buttoned up with trousers it sits somewhere between a casual shirt and a light jacket, which is exactly where a lot of real dressing actually happens. The problem with most overshirts is that they get the weight wrong. Too light and they look like a shirt that lost its nerve. Too stiff and they never drape properly off the shoulder.
